First International Meeting of Teaching-Residency Services in Radiology

During May 2007, one the most novel events with the greatest impact for Latin American radiology will be held within the leadership and coordination framework of the CIR.

Participation in this event, organized by the Department of Electronic Education of the Inter-American College of Radiology (CIR), has already been confirmed by over 50 Radiology Services that offer Teaching-Training for Specialists in Hospitals in Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile, Peru and El Salvador, their geographic location being an important contributing factor.

The Meeting intends to:

  • Foster active participation of Resident Physicians receiving training
  • Promote the exchange of knowledge and teaching experiences
  • Bring the Latin American radiology community closer
  • Discuss the problems in radiology training
  • Share protocols and teaching methods
  • Strengthen the use of Information and Communication Technologies among radiologists, in particular those receiving training

The contents will be viewed by the participants and all the members of RADIOLOGIAVIRTUAL community at no cost. Once again, the support of CIR’s Education Fund-Dr. Karpovas-GE Healthcare makes it possible for all Latin American radiologists to have access to educational contents.

The participants have prepared, in multimedia format, Radiology Courses, Interactive Radiology Cases and Protocols-Diagnostic Algorithms used in their Hospitals, all of which will be presented in May 2007. Moreover, there will be open participation Forums related to the education in the field of Radiology-Radio-diagnosis, where teachers and residents will be able to get to know peculiar aspects of each country and to contribute with new initiatives for development.

This active participation will be certified by the Department of Electronic Education of CIR, both for lecturers and attendants who pass the assessment tests designed for each Course.

A small “resting area” has also been provided where participants can show their countries’ and cities’ excellences in order to strengthen relations and friendship.

We invite all radiologists to participate in the Meeting in May, and to use it to learn, get involved, communicate, debate… with and among partners, who will become friends.

Visit www.radiologiavirtual.org and join the Meeting, we will be waiting for you all!

YES
Of course you can!

Registration is free. You can enroll at www.radiologiavirtual.org

All the participants will receive a certificate issued by the CIR

Next Central American Congress

The Radiologists from the countries that make up Central America: Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama and Belize will meet in July 2007 in the city of San Pedro Sula, where the Central American Congress of Radiology will be held.
This meeting, sponsored by the Central American Federation of Radiology Societies and the CIR, has a selected group of Professors of the CIR and the RSNA who will cover, together with the regional professors, an interesting curriculum.

The second city in Honduras and industrial capital of the country, San Pedro Sula has an international airport serviced by the following airlines: American Airlines, Grupo TACA, Copa Airlines and Continental Airlines, which will let you reach the city from North and South America to attend the Congress and to visit the most beautiful ruins the Maya empire left us: Copan.

RSNA

The RSNA is one of the 24 Associations that make up the Inter-American College of Radiology. With more than 40,000 members, this association is, beyond doubt, the leading organization in radiology of our times.
In the last decades, it has succeeded in irradiating and sharing with radiologists worldwide its valuable educational and scientific resources.

In this issue of NOT i CIR you will find an annual report that will allow you to be further informed about the organization.

Copan, Honduras

More than a century ago, some explorers saw for the first time the monoliths on the ground and steep hillocks, practically hidden by the thick forests in the west of Honduras. Upon clearing the vegetation, they could admire huge pyramidal constructions, some of them with mysterious drawings engraved.

The monoliths, which were later straightened, were covered with intertwined sculptures of a quality that had never been seen before in the American continent, which you will be able to contemplate when you attend the Central American Congress of Radiology in the nearby city of San Pedro Sula.
